Research Approach
To respond effectively to the vocations crisis, we began with research
In 2024, the International Institute for Culture commissioned two major research efforts: one focused on cultural perceptions of Catholicism (a national poll of the general population) and one centered on diocesan and religious vocation directors feedback. The findings helped form the core strategy of Shepherding Future Shepherds.
Our approach is data-informed and pastorally grounded. We do not rely on assumptions or outdated strategies. Instead, we ask: What are the obstacles? Where is trust broken? How do young men discern today? What support do vocation directors need? By asking these questions and listening honestly to the answers, we have created a program that is both spiritually rich and strategically sound.
This research provides the foundation for our four-pillar model and shapes every aspect of our outreach, from digital campaigns to discernment mentorship.
